Compline
- The Shadow of Thy Wings
The
Christ Church Choir performs selections from the medieval monastic
office of Compline, ancient Christian hymns and prayers sung a
cappella in chant, plainsong, and polyphony. The Office of Compline
is sung by the choir at 10:00 p.m. each Sunday evening when Yale
is in session. The church completely dark except for dozens of
candles, clouds of incense swirling from the High Altar, the choir
hidden from sight, Compline is one of the best attended religious
Services in the Yale University community.
